The Flock

Putting value back into mountain wool.

Every fibre is put to good use. Hardy mountain fleece — led by Scottish Blackface — becomes bags and travel goods designed and made in Scotland, fully traceable to the croft. The softer wool of our own flock becomes small-batch, single-flock yarn.

Flock of Scottish Blackface, Cheviot and Mule sheep on the Kintyre coast

The Mountain Wool Blend

The wool no one else wants.

A blend of three hardy hill breeds — coarse, characterful and entirely natural — gathered from small flocks across Kintyre that the commercial wool board won't collect from. Sorted, scoured and felted into the body of our bags and goods.

North Ronaldsay sheep

01 · The Breed

North Ronaldsay

An ancient breed from the northern isles. Its fleece is fine, soft and naturally varied — woven through with greys, fawns and warm browns. Beautifully suited to colourwork, shawls and quiet next-to-skin pieces.

  • · Worsted weight
  • · Undyed naturals
  • · 100g skein
Bluefaced Leicester sheep

Lustrous, long, lovely to spin.

A long-wool breed prized for its softness and gentle sheen. Our BFL is spun to a 4-ply that drapes well and blooms after a wash — a yarn with real elegance for garments and lace.

  • · 4-ply / fingering
  • · Cream, oat, fawn
  • · 100g skein
